Safeguarding

At Wollaston Methodist Church, we are committed to providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment for everyone who takes part in our church life. We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we take this duty very seriously.

Our safeguarding policy and procedures follow the guidance of the Methodist Church’s “Creating Safer Space” framework, as set out in the Methodist Church Safeguarding Policy, Procedures and Guidance (updated 2024). These documents outline the standards expected across all Methodist churches and can be viewed on the national Methodist Church website at www.methodist.org.uk/safeguarding.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Promoting a safer environment and culture
  • Safely recruiting and supporting all those with any responsibility related to children, young people and vulnerable adults within the church
  • Responding promptly and appropriately to every safeguarding concern or allegation
  • Caring pastorally for those affected by abuse
  • Working with statutory agencies, the Methodist Connexion, and regional safeguarding teams to ensure best practice and transparency
